So I know this guy…VOID MAGE.
He said to me, “I’m making Dungeon Synth music. I want you to write the lore for the albums.”
“Like… Dungins and Dragins?” I ask.
“Yes.”
“Like Lord of the Rings?”
“Yes.”
“But…that’s not what I do.”
“But you can.”
“…I’m in.”
Turns out it IS something I can do, and did, and continue to do. He wanted me out of my comfort zone for this first project. “No dialogue. No crudeness. Just world building.”
By the Gods of Mirgothtm that’s just what I did.
Void Mage sent me his music and I sat in the dark and listened. His music is rich in eeriness and dread. Deep, dark stairwells into the unknown. Dank dungeons and murky forests. Concepts began to form. Images flashed in my mind. Spires of flesh and bone reaching eagerly into a fractured sky where The Baleful Eye of The Void was affixed like a cursed gem upon a crown.
From that album came the lore.
